well, a couple nites ago it got really cold and my scherber didnt fair so well. Still alive but it did do some harm. Will wait and see how it goes. 1041 sherwood is still going ok and has 2 true leaf coming out now. Both went through some hard transplant shock as i buried them up to the cot leaves. pictures to follow.

1041 sherwood hanging on still, not sure if either one will make it, have a 910 todd starting just in case.
Tuesday, April 29 View Page
I decided to go ahead and start the 1078 Zulhke today 4-29-08 due to my issue with the 2 above plants. They may come out of it, they may not, so why chance it. I have the 910 todd starting as well and has sprouted root and hopefully be up within next day or two. This is definatley a learning curve and a hard one at that. Live and learn i reckon.

Saturday, July 5 View Page
1075 scherber is about baseball size and has now moved away and out from main vine now and laying nicely from the main. Should be another one ready to pollinate in a day or 2 and will pollinate it with 1319 greene.

just when i thought the 1041 x1319 greene aborted, last nite the pumpkin grew to 14 3/4 inches circumference. why it stopped for 2 days straight is beyond me. but 2 1/4 inches in one nite is nuts, surprised it didnt split or something.
Saturday, July 19 View Page
nothing will take pollination, i believe i am quiting for this yr, not much since in trying this late in the game i guess. 1041x 1319 green finally stopped altogether so i culled it off today, 1075 scherber x 1319 green ( last one on main) isnt doing much either, pollinated on the 7th and its just bigger than softball size. still bright yellow and hard but not doing much, probably cut it off today as well. I have 4 more pollinated and 2 more to do tomorrow if i even care to at this point. good luck to all you folks that have had success. I figure i will resume this next yr

9 day and stem is splitting a little, hopeing it holds.
Wednesday, July 23 View Page
another shot of stem splitting on opposite side, folks are telling me its normal so we will wait and see what happens.
Sunday, July 27 View Page
this is a 1319 greene. this pumpkin is 13 days old and i was sure it had aborted, yesterday, july 26th it was size of 2 tennis balls, it almost tripled in size last nite. Now i am regretting not moving it away from main, hopefully i can get it moved.

pollinated 1078 zulkhe today at 18 ft out. first female on this plant and perfect 5 lobes.
Monday, July 28 View Page
pollinated 2 1075 scherbers on 2 different side vines on july 26th. one side vine is about 20 ft long acting as my main vine due to loss of tip earlier in the season. have one on same side vine pollinated 3 days prior. the other side vine is only 8 ft and probably wont keep it, just trying to get something going here. Have 2 on 1041 sherwood main vine, one at 22 ft and one at 28 ft. can't remember when pollinated right now but they both took and are growing. one has a couple nibbles out of it from squirrels but not too deep. Gonna grow something even if i end up with small ones this yr.

notes day 15 1041 sherwood '04 27inch circ, grew 2 inches during the day today after installing mister system, plants went nuts. 1319 green 25 inch circ at day 21 but didnt grow for 2 weeks in the beginning, only been putting on size for 8 days now. day 6 1075 scherber on 20 ft side vine is 15 inch circ. i am amazed at the difference misters make on the plants, i also went to patch tour yesterday and confirmed i dont water near enough and without mister's here in colorado your fighting an uphill battle. Thanks madmannmarc, joe scherber, gary, and wiz and biz for the advice and getting me on track here.
Monday, August 4 View Page
1041 sherwood, 16 days measureing 28.5 circ, you can see where the squirrels took a couple good nibbles out of it when 3 days old.
Monday, August 4 View Page
1319 greene. this fruit was pollinated on july 12th but just started growing over the last 9 days now, very strange but it has reached 27.5 inches circ and very nice looking punkin so far.
