Its very hard to keep up a temperature as its so cold but they look well. Now its just a case of watering and making sure the pests dont win the battle! As a matter of interest its the coldest winter in many years in the UK so it makes it hard work keeping them warm, we are also suffering very poor light with grey days and fog. Monday, May 3 View Page The onions are now starting to move with the improved light and warmth, they are bigger than anything I have grown 30 odd years for early May. I think that either Peter Glazebrook or IanP will break the current world record of 16lbs 8.5 ounce set by John Sifford in 2005 , at the moment IanP would be my tip but Peter is a great grower, with the new methods we are all into unknown territory so who knows what will happen. Ian is a real pro and perfectionist so to my mind quite able of handling them to maturity without ruining them. Are we looking a possibly the first 20 lb onion.
