Well since two of my plants have germinated I thought I should start my 2008 diary! germinated so far is the 1462 Gibson (1068 Wallace x 998 Pukos); and the 1502 Wallace, both these germinated in moist paper towls in 34 hours. Still waiting for the 1385 Jutras... Will post pics of the competition patch which is in the south garden this year (where we grew our 1112.5 in 06).

Well the line up has changed for this season as the 1385 Jutras failed to germinate. In it's place I started an 1180.5 Pukos which is the same cross as the Jutras (998 Pukos-f x 1068 Wallace -m). I also started one of our 1112.5 seeds from 06 which is an 1180 Daletas-f x 1420 LaRue-m should make for some great genetic crosses this season! The picture here is from May 4th, will hold all the babies for a while as the weather has still been freezing at night!

Transplanted the four competition plants into the hoop houses last Sunday May-18th. Couldn't hold them back any longer at least I was able to hold them until the freak 90+ heat wave passed! Also planted more garden stuff.

Plants have caught back up with the last week + of 85 to 95 degree weather, have femails on all four plants with the 1180 Pukos female ready to open tomorrow AM at about 14' out, the 1112.5 Gadberry has a prime female ready to open Saturday at 15' out. We have only used compost tea with our "secrete ingredient" and the plants look the best ever. I did notice a couple of aphids today while bury vines and may have to spray a bit of Imonex soon. Still behind on my corn, Scralet runner beans, and tomatoes but hay 17 days ago it was snowing!

Well September was going pretty good for us we picked up over 300 pounds on the 1502 Wallace plant which was chugging along right at 20 lbs per day until last night when the temps dropped to 26 degrees! We covered the 1502 with plastic sheets stood off by pvc hoops but I think it got to cold to save it.... I will check on it after work and hope for the best...
