It was her first official weigh off at 756 lbs. We now have a three way competition going in our neighborhood. Dr Sasquatch, Big Al, and us! It will be alot of fun for sure. Friday, May 15 View Page I tried something new for germination this year. It caused some curly cots to start with on a few but all seeds germed, even the 1097.5 Beachy!! And Just so you know Mr Phil Hunt, We got your 1156 in the patch too! I will have to start looking for a small patch of land, say about 40 acres to use for the retirement patch... Friday, May 15 View Page We are going to try something new in the patch that made alot of sense at 3:00 AM when I woke up thinking about it. This may help us get to the 1000 lb mark. What the heck, the germination thing worked perfectly, why not give this a whirl. This is something that I will also share with Big Al and Dr Sasquatch as we should all be on a level playing field (NEXT YEAR!) Friday, May 15 View Page Just Kidding... Friday, May 15 View Page I wonder when we should tell Dr. Sasquatch that his plant is not double vining and he won't have to pull it... Monday, May 18 View Page Well today is a much cooler day. Not much happened in our patch. This is a pic of the 1156 Hunt! Finally starting to come to life after the sun shade blew off and it got sun burnt the other day. I did find out Dr Sasquatch's plant is doing much better than he thinks it is. That thing is gonna EAT the Creature from the Black Lagoon. What a monster that thing is gonna be! I think he will be very happy with the 1319 Wilson. I can't wait to see what it's going to produce. This will be a great competition!!! Monday, May 18 View Page This is the 1097.5 Beachy! Just chugging along. I found in this area the plants always start slow and seem to almost stop growing. The "special" sauce we used on all the plants will be helping them along by this weekend. Even Big Al's plant is already starting to show signs of life!! I wanted to tell Dr Sasquatch that we made the right choice to go with the Wilson, but I think it's going to be obvious real soon!!! Monday, May 18 View Page A lesson to anyone that gives up on a seedling and leaves it for dead. This pant was set outside to be hardened off inside the same tent that had the sun shade blown off. the cots were burnt and the first true leaf was not yet out and opened and it just fried the new growth. This plant did nothing for a week and I thought it may be gone. I gave it the same sauce that the other plants got but on a diluted and more frequent scale. The fried leaves started to turn green and actually shot out from the plant on Saturday. Today we see the new growth. I will pllant it this weekend and give it a chance. I bet it will surprise us! Saturday, July 4 View Page The work on the Highway nearby put alot of Cucumber Beetles out of a place to live so the started to set up shop in my back yard. Daddy will not use any bug sprays because of us kids, especially in our backyard play areas. The only answer was to use manual bug removal sevices (daddy with my play bug net). He said it was the hottest day of the year so far but he did get some results. Saturday, July 4 View Page The Realtor man that sells homes in our area give baby tomato plants to all the people in the neighborhood. We planted ours in the front patch and it seems to really like the soil that Daddy and I have been woking on for the last few years!! It got big in a hurry!! He says that about all of them but I think he really believes it this time. Mommy just says to ignore him because he has "issues" whatever that means!
