These are the seeds I have started on March 2nd. I will grow 3 of the pumpkins and the squash up to 500-600 sq ft. The rest will be experimental to see if any plants are really strong in the heat. Also to see what kinda fruit growth from extreme small sq footage. They will be grown mainvine only for up to 25'. Will try to pollinate those as well for seeds. 339 Grande 07 (squash), 659 Grande 07, 1178 Rivard 2002, 620 Boyton, 726 Bosworth, 616 Bosworth, 713 Lawrence 07. It has been drinking around 4-5 cups of water a day. A couple capfulls of the Botanicare is added with each 15- 20 cups or so of water.

3 plants DAMAGED! Looks like frost damage I think. It only got in the 40s so I thought they would be ok. Apparently the combination of the dew, 40 degree weather and the wind made for damaging effect. Plants affected were.. 566.5 VanHook 07 Heavy damage, survival questionable. 616 Bosworth heavy damage. 793 VanHook 07 heavy damage and cracked stim at base survival unlikely.

This is what im using for insect and fungus control so far. Using the Ortho stuff one week then using the gaden safe stuff the next. I'm still testing the systemic fungicide on a single plant to make sure its ok. If anyone has experiance using these products negative or positive please let me know. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Has a couple pumpkins just pollinated. The target pumpkin to pollinate is a few days away from blooming. This plant has proven to be very resilant. This plant was frost damaged along with 6 other plants. It is 2-3 times as large as the others that had same damage. Only the 819 VH and 1018 VH were fully protected from the damage.

6:45am May 15 2008 - Sounded like a tornado was comming down right over the house then "boom"! At least $35k damage to the house when the top half of a 100' pine tree came crashing through the roof. At least I have an excuse now if my pumpkins dont do so well. The outside plants survived. However....

I made 8 loads total with this 5 yard dump trailer. The atv is sitting on the 5 loads of fresh manure that still needs to compost for next year. I'm standing on the 3 loads of well composted manure that is going to be used this year. I think the methane was starting to get to me.... Dump trailer was only $65 a day to rent.. Money well spent.

Each pile is about 1/4 yard. It took about 50 piles to cover the patch. The same thing was done with the composted manure. The manure was spread and tilled in before I started with this sugar soil.
