Well we figured today being tax day was as good as any other day to start our great giant pumpkin adventure. My fiance and I are already super excited about giving this a go and adding to our collection of gardening thrills. We have to admit that it was a little nerve wracking going through all the seeds that folks sent us and selecting the ones we wanted to try this year. Big things go out to you folks that sent us seeds, you know who you are. You are really the reason we wanted to start a growers diary. We'd love for you guys to see the progress of your generosity. My future mother in law selected a few seeds as well to try so we should be able to track them all on here as well. We weren't smart enough to take a few pictures of our set up here for this post but we'll try and do it for the next. Maybe that will give some of you a chance to let me know what I'm doing right/wrong. We are very thankful to all the advice we've gotten off of bp.com these past few months and we'll try and take it all to heart and use it, but we know this is a learning process and we're sure we'll run across some glitches this year that we'll have to try and do better next year. But you have to start somewhere right? So the picture we did supply is the view my future pumpkins will have from the garden while they are growing. Pretty nice eh? They will definately be set in a place of beauty. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and the climate wont treat them too badly. That picture was taken last June... right now there is still about 8ft of snow on the peak. So put your blessings upon us and we'll try and do our best. Thanks Again! Tracy and Mace

Welp, the little soaked seeds are now in a 4 inch pot of jiffy mix combined with our neighbors horse dookey thats been sitting out in the weather for months at a time... don't worry we treated the manure so the little pests wont bug our plants. *no pun intended* Its still a bit too chilly to put them out in the green house so they are in a sunny spot on the window sill. I know it will take a few days to germinate but I can't help glancing over at them every hour or so. I'm such a dork. Mace is taking it more in stride, though I think he's secretly checking them out when he walks by too. Bringing us smiles and thats all that counts.

Ahh *happy sigh*. Its a beautiful morning, not a cloud in the sky. The birds are chirping, the air is crisp and clear, and absolutely not frost last night. Maybe spring has actually sprung after all. Must take a break from watching the pumpkin seed pots today to putting my rear in gear and tilling up the vegitable side of the garden. The foul weather had put a damper on it for a few days but now is time since I'm only a few days from transplanting all my tomatoes and peppers and what not. Well I better get going, my dog is anxious to be outside too. The pic is of the creek my town is named after. Not much to look at, just your typical montana creek, but it has some great fly fishing.

I spoke too soon. Its nasty out today so I'm stuck inside afterwork right now staring at my pumpkin seed pot willing the little guy to pop up out of the soil. Boy I need more hobies. So much for going outside and giving my dog a bath too. Last night she snuck off to the field that I'd just burned and rolled in all the ashes... sigh.
