Here is my PB and friut from lasat year. From the 1180 Jutras. It went 884 at Frerichs Farm. That was 149 pounds greater then what it was taping! It was grown on a 200 sq ft plant. My patch has been tripled in size for next year so I can grow avg size AG pumpkin plants!

1130 is in foreground and the 1385 is in the rear. 1130 ribbon vined then grew out of it. 1385 had some big leafs and got blown over in a big thunderstorm which we are having every night this year. Great weather, NOT!

Plants continue to chug along. The weather is still not great! No pollinations yet. 1130 has some females but are too close right now. 1385 looks as though it will only throw 2 main vine females. Still shooting for first week of July for blooming females.

Another note, cucumber and potatoe beetles are very numerous this year. Merit seems to be working but they are still eating the leafs first they croaking. Squash bugs are also out. I am now alternating Sevin and Orthro Max. I have also started with a broad spectrum fungicide becasue it has been so damp here in Preston CT.

1385 continues not producing females on the main, #1 did not take at 15 ft out and #2 seems to be half blooming today at 19ft and the other half of the flower will bloom on Saturday. I will have one more shot on the main around 23 ft out and so i will be looking for a side vine pollination but will not be in the optimum 1st week of July pollination window for this plant. The past two years my best plants never produce......

It should be noted that the 1385 pollination this morning was 23ft out. I am at the end of the patch and swinging the main the to the left now. Each plant has a minimum area of 25ft x 25ft. The 1130 #1 is getting big but I must see some big jumps in growth if I am going to keep it. I will measure all 4 fruit on plant to see which one has fastest growth.

Vine borers have been noticed in the patch where the side vines have been exposed from the dirt. They have been removed. Thnderstorms again this week have doused us with rain and the gains have been limited. Fans have been placed on the 1130 stem. Visited an RI grower's patch today and observed his 600lb pumpkins, they just seem so much bigger then my 600lb pumpkin! Maybe I overestimate and they underestimate? They had some beauties going and it shows why I am a novice and they are record holders! Time and effort allow you to grow em big!
