Well, guess I might as well start my 2009 pumpkin diary. I'm gonna downsize a little this year for a couple of reasons. First; I planted pumpkins almost wall to wall in my available space in 2008. It just isn't a good idea to plant over and over in the same dirt. Secondly; the economy this year has hit my business somewhat. I really need to spend more time as a provider and less time playing in the patch. That said, I have an early plant going that I hope can get me to the Indy State Fair this year. My 949 Zoellner is my only shot for the fair.

Next to push dirt are my 769 Lombardis. Heavy, orange, and a proven 1100 lb. producer, will make this my main pollinator in 09'

My third and final plant to make the cut in '09 was the 993.2 Vincent-McGill. I loved watching this one in the Vincent - McGill diary last season. The stellar pumpkin from its pollinator made it for me - had to plant it.

Looks like I won't have an Indy fair pumpkin this year. Here's a photo of my 949. Blossom end split goes into the cavity and the pumpkin goes into the compost pile.

Well, I didn't get one to a scale this year. But the local high school senior class started a new tradition. they had a party in my front yard while I was out of town. They're calling it the "Drunken Punkin Rodeo". Someone had a camera and posted the incriminating evidence on facebook :) Have a great holiday season! Good luck in 2010.
