Most seeds germinated and potted up 1132 squash 2 819 petrkowski seeds. My 904 seed is taking along time to germinate. I think its a dud. It's always the one seed you wan't to germinate. LOL So in 2-3 days if the seed still isn't germinated I might have to go with plan B which is a 1385 clone. Hopefully I don't make it to plan C.

904 rotted. :( It's always the seed you want to grow the most. Off to plan B.

First picture this is deliberately low quality. I am making a time lapse video with the time lapse camera I have circled. I want people to watch the video at the end of the year. Soo this will be my only picture this year.

Is this a disease or is the main vine just running out of energy as the pumpkin grows? This happened after a 93 degree day. I am concerned that it could be a disease because it looks like there is squash bug damage on the leaf where it starts. Has not spread is only on all new growth on main vine.

Bad news. Today when me and my mom looked at the pumpkin and were getting ready to put mill fabric under it we saw a single squash bug feasting upon it. But that was not the worst part... the 13 day old pumpkin is aborting. LOL My good luck streak may not last through this year. Hopefully the 3 day old pumpkin next to it makes it. It better. It's on a sidevine though since the tip of the main-vine is unhealthy and will not set anything.

Well I just cut the yellow part of the mainvine off. I am happy to report that it looks like there is not disease. I found no bacterial slime or discoloration the inside of the vine was healthy. I think since 5-6 taproots were pulled up around it that it just ran out of energy.

Finally set a pumpkin is about baseball size now. Weird yellow leaf thing is spreading to new growth on the secondary closest to the end of the plant. Maybe it is some kind of disease like mosaic virus that does not effect anything that much.

Sent sample to OSU today. Should know in a week or two if it is YVD. May take a break from growing for a year if it is. I want to rid the area of the disease.

Pumpkin Plant is almost dead. And today I went into my vegetable garden and there are a ton of squash bugs on my lg and cucumber. They will be exterminated tonight with triazicide.

Didn't want to end the season this way. I was trimming it but it was a loosing battle. If you look at an earlier picture you can clearly see how fast the disease spread.

Email from OSU
Hi Nic,
Sorry for the delay in response. I had to test your sample twice to check my results. I will be sending you a formal reply with information on Cucurbit yellow vine decline shortly.
Thank you,
Bridget M.

Buckwheat is filling in nicely. The giant sunflowers I have in the corner of the patch are 12-15 ft. In other news I had my Dad spray roundup in the grass where I plant on growing watermelon next year. But I think he went a little roundup crazy and now we have a lot of dead grass. LOL If anyone thinks I have a surprise pumpkin they would be mistaken.

Talked to Craig Lembke today about the results of my soil test. Found out my sulfur is at almost toxic levels. Too much Sulfate of Potash, Gypsum, and Sulfur to lower PH. Need to add a lot of OM.
