well the last few days I have been starting seeds. So far my 1689 jutras a 1230 daletas, and two seeds from my pumpkin last year have germinated in 36 hours.

Got most of my plants in (640 petrykowski,1230 daletas,1689 jutras)its finally dry. Thankfully all of the rain did not materialize. Sounds like some growers are having some trouble with wet weather. I would have got my (1180 daletas) in today but for some reason it took a week to sprout and is not mature enough yet but that is probally what I should expect from a 8 year old seed.

Leaf After Pumpkin
Tuesday, August 11 View Page
Well my pumpkin is at day 43 and was growing around 19 lbs for the cold snap but now it is back up to 25 lbs a day. Looks like I have a week or two of good weather.
Tuesday, August 11 View Page
I figured out what the leaf problem was. Ron wallace emailed me the diagnosis.
Wednesday, August 12 View Page
O crap. lol
Wednesday, August 12 View Page
Me still in shock the same evening. lol
Saturday, August 15 View Page
Well I figured out that the leaf problem is low potassium. Thanks to Ron Wallace and a plant tissue test from ClC labs. The report said the leafs had 2.15 % potassium. The ideal range was 3-5% so I had very low potassium. I encourage everyone to do plant tissue tests in early july. It was to late for me to know this information my pumpkin split do to very thin walls. Like everything else in this hobby PREVENTION is the key. I still have one more smaller pumpkin left on the 1180 daletas.

Ok one more update on 1689 plant. I cut the 700lbs dmg pumpkin off the plant. It threw the plant into survival mode. It put out new growth and a 5 day old pumpkin that is FOOTBALL sized. So I am going to let it grow. I will also add a bit of potassium since the plant is lacking it. My goal is to get the late season pumpkin to 300-500 lbs. The 1180 daletas pumpkin is still growing and is really orange.
Monday, August 24 View Page
Well the 1180 daletas is up to 700 lbs day 56. Still growing 10 lbs a day. The plant is almost dead though because of PM. I know I have been growing for 4 years. You think I would learn to start using the fungicide before pm shows up. lol. Two things I have to say I learned as my season draws to an end are use fungicide earlier and get my plant tissue test done in early July.

This the most pretty pumpkin I have grown and ever seen. This makes up for the other problems I have had this year. 1/3 of my pumpkins made it this year. I will be back next year though so watch out. lol

O NO! I just relized I had another 1375 seed this spring also. It was not proven at the time and yes you guessed it it was one of my backups that was culled. I feel bad for not growing it but no one knew at the time that it was a good seed. I am lucky to have another chance. That is probally the worst mistake I ever made this spring.

List of What I have added to patch so far: 1.Cow Manure 2.Blood Meal 3.Sulfate of Potash 4.Kelp 5.Humic Acid 6.Winter Wheat Seed 7.Sulfer(As soon as I figure out how Much.) 8.Grass(When Ground Was tilled) 9.Bone Meal(Phosphorus is crazy low
Saturday, November 14 View Page
I figured out how much sulfer I need to lower 400 sq ft of soil from a ph of 7.9 to 7. I need about 9.6 lbs. I will add 5 lbs now and retest in spring.

Well I changed my idea on what I want to plant next year again. I will either plant a squash or pumpkin. I can only grow one plant next year so I will list my choices most likely to plant - least likely, for squash or pumpkin next year. 1.1139 Sherwood 1. 848 Mckenzie* 2.1375 Ligget 2. 1132 Vincent McGill* 3.1200 Ureana
