Seed starting has one well, except that I lost a 1575 Stevens that I got from Chris himself which was a big letdown. So I will see what I can do to fix it. Line-up is 1789 Wallace, 1657 Bryson, 1495 Stelts and 1351 Stelts as of right now.

Started a 1481 Stevens which already has a root growing! Thank God or things could have gotten ugly. As of right now all plants(except 1481) are above ground and starting to green up. Will transplant this weekend hopefully.

The following plants will each get 750 sq feet of growing room- 1789 Wallace, 1657 Bryson, 1495 Stelts and 1481 Stevens. The 1351 Stelts will get about 400 sq feet. Still need to add a few things to the patch and get it tilled prob tuesday or wed the I will get my neighbor to do the final till with his tractor on friday. Greenhouses will go out right after it is tilled then soil will warm with plastic over planting mounds for around 4-5 days.

Well my season is officaly over. I lost my 1481 Stevens plant to a groundhog in early July (He will no longer be a problem). I lost my 1789 Wallace to an abort/ vine rot at around 175 pounds at 20 days old in mid July.

That leaves me with my 1351 Stelts and 1495 Stelts. My 1351 was around 450 pounds @30 days old but stem split and it started to rot.

That leaves me with the 1495 Stelts..... What a ride. At 20 days old it was 262 pounds and at 30 days it was an amazing 646 pounds (crazy big). At day 37 it was 900 and was on pace for 985 on day 40 but it stopped growing. Either due to a stem split that I thought had healed then a soft spot developed or some other problem I lost it. I liked the cross of 1495 Stelts X 1789 Wallace so if anybody would like some seeds shoot me an email- [email protected].

Next year I will be back to my old patch and will be putting in 4 plants. Patch prep will begin this weekend after I cut up the 1495 pumpkin. Plow, till, spread manure, till then rest. Send a soil test then spray garden with weed killer or roundup to help with a few of the weeds. Then I can take a break.
