Greetings from Vancouver Washington. I guess I will start my diary off this year with a pic of my best plant. This is the the 1388 LaRue (1068 Wallace x 1017.5 LaRue). It is just over 5 feet long with three other main-side vines of about 24inches. Then - about five other successively shorter side vines on out to the tip. I am posting some questions on the message board regarding the leaves on all of my plants.

This is the 1470 Wallace (1502 wallace x 998 pukos) It is just over 4 feet long. The first three side vines are about 18 inches then about five more successively shorter out to the tip. It is a thinner and less stalky plant than the LaRue, but seems to be moving along just fine.

And...drumroll please...my own 1220.5 Raunig's (983.5 Isom X self) I started these two a week later than the others - but they have also had less heat and pampering. They look two weeks behind the others... I have to cull one of these soon... Other than being late - they both look good.

The third and fourth leaves had this yellowing problem. I have heard everything from a micro-nutrient deficiency to simple cold soil and lack of nitrogen. I am going to post some questions about this. This seems like it should be an easy diagnosis for one of you botany majors....
It is showing up again as a light yellow mottling in some of the later leaves...

Here is a shot of my entire patch. It is about 1800sg feet. There is a bit more that is not visible towards the camera. These are my three plants. On the left the 1220.5 Raunig - which is quite a bit behind the two others. The one in the back is that 1470 Wallace. The biggest plant is the 1388 LaRue - which is hte closest to the camera and to the right

The 1388 Larue. It is about 11 feet long with the first couple side vines out about 6 feet.

1470 Wallace... Maybe 8 foot main with the first sides at about 4 or 5 feet. This plant continues to have a lot of yellowing at the leaf veins. It was real cold again for a a week or so....so who knows...

The 1220.5 Raunig. It got a later start. No heating cables, no heater. It is a thicker - more stout - plant. Everything about this plant is compact. The leaves are close together - making all the vines crowded etc...
I have one female at about 4 feet on this....then nothing. If I don't see something yellow pretty soon in the vine tip, the first week in July is going to be tough. My experience is that it is a couple weeks from first sighting of a female to flower opening - give or take a few days depending on heat...

Starting to work with a female and shaping the vine at about 11 feet on the 1388 LaRue. If this turns out to be the one. I would have about 8 sides vines on each side pre-pumpkin. However, there looks to be a better one at the next node and looks like a better potential position. I think this is my favorite part of season. It is always a pretty good challenge to get the fruit set and vine positions just right. I usually end up doing something dumb and obsessive right about now...

Well...Here is my biggest...This is the Raunig 1220.5
It is a big wheel. However - the bottom is starting to fill out. This was a six lobe and it has been fun to watch it just grow straight out in all directions. It has a stem split that seems to have stopped- so we will see.

The second largest...1470 Wallace. It has a great shape. I think this thing would have been really big - if i had not lost the stump early on...

Here is the patch...As far as measurements for the pumpkins go....lets just say they are all over 300 OTT, but less than 400 - lol...
My goal would be to get them all up over 385 OTT - with one of them over 390. It's a long shot - but not impossible yet.
