Here's a quick hello to let everyone know I'm alive. I've been off the grid for a while and here's an update on my recovery. As you can see it's not pretty to begin with. Yes the first couple months were REALLY HARD. I still have pain at times and that may not improve much unless I get the rod removed from the bone.

Late May I had the screws removed. This was a setback for me as I'd been working REALLY hard to get back in shape. So now I have some cool titanium screws.

So I said I've been working really hard. Really hard as in riding my bike a lot, swimming, and yes even running some. Last week was family vacation to Colorado. I even pulled into Jared's Nursery briefly...home of the Great WIZ.
But this was the personal highlight of my trip. Easily the most epic ride I've done. Very hard. 14,110' via pedal bike :)

Well the Ironman journey is over. It didn't go quite as well as I hoped as a competitor, but I finished. I made a couple mistakes along the way that made the marathon extra hard.
2.4 mile swim: 1:09
112 mile bike: 5:02
Marathon: 4:24.... :(
Total time: 10:48
There's a saying in the Ironman circles. It goes something like this:
Ironman - swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, run 26.2 miles, brag for the rest of your life.

When I was still running. The good news I managed to stay in good spirits to the finish line!

So Christy asked what was a better feeling. Crossing the finish line of an Ironman or growing a world record pumpkin.
Of course the pumpkin! I didn't even win the Ironman! :)
However....there's unfinished business at Ironman Wisconsin so we'll see....next time.
