Also present but blocked in the photo were Robin Shrum, Jimmy weir and better half, and Joshua Tuttle. It was great having Brad and Joshua up from Carolina for the meeting!

Finally came the day to start the seeds. Ok, I was going to wait until the 20th but just couldn't hold out anymore. Started the seeds filed and soaking at 5:00pm on Saturday the 19th of April. I'm very excited about my line-up this season thanks to Ron and Dick Wallace and Steve Daletas. Thanks guys!

After 6 hours of soaking I planted the seeds in the peat pots at 11:00pm on the 19th. The 5" peat pots were soaked first to minimize the water that would be soaked up from the seed starting mix. Before that I poked quite a few extra holes into the sides and bottom of each pot. Also perforated the sides at four places so the pot can easily be torn away from the soil at transplanting time. To the right in the small pot is a 694 Fowler planted mainly for a back-up. To the left in the plastic container is my wifes growing project. A Lowes special with Zennia's and sunflowers. Something for the flower bed I guess....

Very strange mutation on this plant. I've never seen anything like it. It is happening on several side vines on this one plant. Once this occurs there is no more vine growth.

Ok, so here is the pumpkin that I decided not to enter in this years weigh-off. She taped out mighty big but for some reason I had the feeling it would go WAY light!!!

I also had these two pumpkins in the patch but they must have had some really weird genes. Can't figure out those odd growths. They look like Mickey Mouse ears???
