Tilled the garden today. Added 200 pounds of dried kelp, 200 pounds of humic acid, 36 pounds of gypsum and 40 pounds of ironite. Put the greenhouses up to start warming the soil. 20 yards of cow manure (aged 5+ years) is coming this weekend.
I'll start the seeds germinating tonight. 1121Kuhn (1810.5Stevens x 1818.5Bryson), and the 1614Watson (dmg)(est) (1566Rodonis x 1818.5Bryson). I'm staying all New Hampshire!

My cow manure man showed up at 6:45 this morning with his first load. I spent the day spreading 20 yards of composted manure by hand.
I need a tractor!
Sore and achey now. I'll till that in with some grub beater on Tuesday.
My Kuhn seed is just breaking the soil surface. My Watson seed isn't doing anything, so I got three more from Hiram and they are filed, soaked and awaiting germination.

Soil test results finally came back. pH is low. Potassium is low. I tilled in 200 pounds of lime, 12 pounds of potash, and 5 pounds of Mycorrhiza. I'm having someone come by to power till this weekend, then I'll be ready to plant. Pic of my garden after tilling.

Frost damage warning is over. My plants did well, but are still just creeping along. Maybe I should have use my soil heating cables, but it's too late now. Soil drench of Subdue Maxx given yesterday.

This is my 1121Kuhn plant. You can see some yellowing occurring. I'm pretty sure it's because the soil is too cold. I'll have to buy a new soil thermometer to check the temperature. My plants are still growing, but not as vigorously as I'd like. Feeding of 10-50-10 with a fish and seaweed foliar spraying yesterday, and a soil drench of cygon 2E today (systemic pesticide).

I haven't posted for weeks. I've been keeping up on my fertilizing/pesticide/fungicide spraying schedule. The weather has been less than perfect...wet and cold. The growing tip of my Watson plant stopped growing, shriveled up and fell off. I've had to train a secondary as a new main, but this has put me weeks behind. The Kuhn plant is 6-7 feet out, but showing yellowing leaves. I'm hoping this is just a reaction to the cold that will resolve with a much anticipated sunny and warm stretch. Not a promising start to the season but I'll keep plugging away. Pictures this coming weekend.
On the brighter side, I'm going skydiving with the kids in 2 1/2 weeks..... OH NO MR. BILL!!!!!!!!

More disasters.
Some critter got into my patch and chewed off the last foot of my 1121Kuhn plant....pumpkin and all! Now instead of pollinating next week, it'll be a few week before I can train a secondary and wait for another pumpkin to form.....arrrrrrgggghhhhhhh!!!!!!

Kuhn critter damage is worse today. I'm losing 10% of my plant a day. I don't see any soil tracks....?crows.
Season going down the toilet.
On the brighter side, I now have a summer to actual spend doing things with people.
I'm going skydiving in about 1 1/2 weeks...

I got nothing!
Deer are feasting faster then the plants are growing. Coyote urine and "Deer off" are doing absolutely nothing. Looks like no pumpkins for this year. I'm on the verge of pulling them (what's left of them) and putting down a cover crop. My tattered plants are the size you would expect at the beginning of June, with no pumpkins in sight!!!
I need a new hobby.
