Thursday, May 1 View Page Hi Pumpkin freinds. It has been a while I have had my ups and downs this year so far. On Febuary 17 of this year my dog Charlie died unexpectadly. He choked on a meat ball I had given him.I was so heart broken for a while. I thought why me , why my dog, why did this happen. All I can think of is God needed Charlie for something and he knew I could handle the pain of my best freind being tooken away from me. Other then that life is going good. No problems with my truck. I only need the head gasket replaced but no biggy yet. I do have good news.I got another love in my life. His name is Gizmo , a Yorkshire terrier. He is by no means a charlie , but I know Charlie would of wanted me to have another dog if he could speak. I am in the process of teaching gizmo agility. He is doing realy good for his age. Ok now to pumpkins. I built a long gourd trellis. Thanks to Sav Spada I can try my hand at long gourds. I am also growing giant watermelons, Thanks to John Van Hook, James White,amd Marty Schnicker for the watermelon seeds. I gave Tracy some too. She has always tried to grow but with no sucess. Maybe this year. Tracy and I are going to till this Friday . The patch looks great. Pics to come later. Thursday Tracy and I will plant our seeds.I can not wait. Thursday, May 1 View Page Now it is just waiting. Monday, May 5 View Page Yippy my 275 van hook came up today and my Tingley is starting to break soil. I tried to do some tilling today and Tracy and I's tiller blew up. I got 1/4 of the garden done. I hope the tiller is not too badly broken cause it was a great one and free. Monday, May 5 View Page My 444 Wickless came up today. My 1247 Tingley is now completly up.I checked my long gourd and watermelons and they should be breaking threw realy soon. Monday, May 5 View Page Ok Tracy said I have to let you know the story behind the tiller. Well We got the tiller out of the shed last Friday and it would not start. So my brother came over to try and help, He changed the oil, put new gas in , cleaned the carb, put a new spark plug in, but it failed to stay running. So i took off the air filter to check the throttle cables and noticed the one throttle wire was broken off. So I jerry riged the throttle and it was idleing high so I lowered the trottle switch to low so I owuld not burn up the engine. I was so happy it stayed running. So off to the garden with my dogs and started to till when PUFF SMOKE but it kept runnung. Then about ten minutes kater PUFFF RATTLE THE ENGINE GETS LOUDER AND LOUDER BIG THICK SMOKE I CAN'T SEE IN FRONT OF ME, I can't see my dog's I RAN BUT THEN AS I was running away BANG PIFFFF OIL SPIRTED. Tiller dies. I found my dog's threw the thick smoke I thought the dang thing was gonna break into peices. This realy stinks. To bad tracy was not home she woulod of been runningn with me. So today we are going to rent a tiller. Thursday, May 8 View Page My watermelon came up today. No sucess on the long gourd germanation. Tuesday, June 3 View Page Well The weather is warming up and the pumpkins are starting to take off. All doing fine. No sucess on the giant watermelons . They did sprout , but when putting them in the ground they did not make it. I am very thankful to the growers who gave me seeds. I have some left and will try again next year for the watermelons. In the mean time while waiting for the pumpkins to grow I am still training Gizmo for A gility. So Here is more video if you wanna take a look see at Gizmo doing Agility. A little small for this time of year do too the cold weather we had. Now it is warming up and plants are loveing it, so are the weeds. This plant is tied with my 444 Wickless plant.We added Merit to the plants about a month ago. So we will see if we get rid f the buggies. I polinated today we will see if it takes. Saturday, July 12 View Page Ok so besides Pumpkins which I have been doing good weeding this year and takeing realy good care. I have been buisy training Gizmo my yorkie for agility competitions.He is doing realy good but now he found something he enjoys more then agility. It all started about a week ago when me and Tracy would go to the garden and as soon as we walked by the cucumber plants a rabbit would run out. Well Gizmo is allowed in the garden and never saw the rabbit untill yesturday when I stood where the rabbit runs to get out of the garden and Gizmo saw it and ran after the rabbit. So today we did it again I held Gizmo while Tracy flushed the rabnbit from the cucumbers. This time the rabbit took a wrong turn and had to go all the way around the garden Gizmo almost had it untill the rabit kicked it into high gear. I think the rabbit was jogging when my dog almost caught him. I of course love animals and my dog is just having fun with the chase. I know he will never be able to catch the rabbit. Now Gizmo wait's till tomarow untill then the rabbits in my front yard are waiting for my dog too come out front where the Rabit family is waiting for him and punching there fists together. lol. Wednesday, July 16 View Page I have been polinateing like crazy lately. I have a pumpkin set on the Tingley, Wickless, Vanhook, and two on the Spada which I am gonna decide which one to cull. So far so good. I had a bad day yesturday got stung by a bee when putting grass clipings in the compost pile.Today was a better day. Tuesday, July 29 View Page Someone likes chciken feet. Next up rabbit feet. Tuesday, July 29 View Page Me and tracy's watermelon. I wanted to try to grow watermelons this year instead of sweet corn and not bad. Tracy is happy she finnaly is getting watermelons bigger then golf balls. I was told they need lot's of water. So we have been watering every other day and they are getting big. I built little shade tents to protect them from the sun. Tuesday, July 29 View Page The 444 Wickless has 2 pumpkins set that are ribbing real bad. I am gonna let both grow and see what one takes off. Tuesday, July 29 View Page And last but not least the 275 Van Hook plant. I have it in a flag pattern and it has a pumpkin set which is gaining weight and growing fast.
