The 941 Sherwood 1486 Jarvis x 1495 Stelts) I really hope to get more of the squash gens and the 1495 size capabilities. My 1272 Barker 1495 x 1468.5 Stevens) 1770 Lieber. OPtions are 902 Uhlmeyer,1789 Wallace,12775 Starr,1799.5 Daletas,1495 Stelts,901 Hunt, and lastly the 910.5 Barker (1421 Checkon x 1421.5 Stelts) and 23% heavy and SUPER awesome gens. Can you tell I REALLY LOOOOOOOVE the 1495 genetics. Oh and a small chance of putting in the 904 Stelts but I have to win it first. Happy new year all!!

So We have had a typical start to the winter season. So on the really warm day (43 degrees) I figured since I will be relacing the tines on my tiller and that there were only a few spots still somewhat frozen in the patch why not till it. Well at least half of it anyway. I even applied some lime. It wasnt too bad as I over lapped each pass and I have a sandy loam base. Pics soon

Thursday, February 28 View Page
So Wizzy and I where wondering if the 2 of us weighed over 350 could we eat for free.
Thursday, February 28 View Page
O found it wasn't nice to keep asking so I gotta a spanking for refusing to stop the pestering of the waitresses. Does it look like it hurt?
Thursday, February 28 View Page
I think Jack did it strictly for pleasure as he got a sympathy hug after his spanking.Sheeeesh!

Oh geez! my daughter is really starting to scare me! It is true she has choosen a beauty of a plant. she had to pick of the 3 902.5 Ulhmeyers I had left and mind you when she picked it they all looked prety much the same. I almost took one as well but I had roughly 8-10 others to choose from. I have a REALLY nice 1272 Barker I think I will go with. Lord help me if she actually kicks my butt.

It is going to be a Very,Very hard summer to grow this year for as long as I have been growing I have had my faith buddy out in the garden with me and yesterday we had to have her put down due to her kidneys failing. (pics forth coming) Other than one season where she went rabbitt crazy and ran through my patch she knew not to come in there and ALWAYS waited for me to take a brake so she could have some play time with me. So I am really hoping to do well this year in her honor. Love ya baby girl !!!

The wind (35+ mph) blew over my temp. greenhouse today and snapped my 1623.5 Wallace plant in half. DAMN IT!!!!
Monday, May 27 View Page
Well I pollenated a 6 lobe on my Puy. fair plant today. It was crossed with the 902.5 Uhlmeyer. Not sure I I will keep it maily because it is about 11ft out and right next to the center pole that supports the green house. 1272 Barker is 1495 x 1468.5 Stevens and the 902.5 Uhlmeyer is 1080.5 Hunt x 1495 Stelts.

earlier this week I planted the 222 Barker (1468.5 Stevens x self) for our clubs 10' x 10' compwtition. I am really curious as to how it will turn out and all the 222 vstarts have been pretty aggressive growers.
Monday, May 27 View Page
My field kins came up on Friday. Being that I only had 5 seeds from my Wa. State record 119 and that I had croseed it with the 162 B McKinnon which grew my 140.5 UOW I just had to give the 119 a try. I also started the 80 LaRue. Now that I think about it I should start a few 140.5's as back ups.
Saturday, June 22 View Page
Ok it has been awhile since I have posted anything so forgive me if I accidently double post. Spreading the Mint straw and Chinken poo in the big greenhouse and then ammend and till.

Wa-la One side done. I decided to break up the types of plastic on the greenhouses this year. The top halves of the greenhouses are a plastic with a nylon weave inside the plastic and the other is the simple run if the mill 6 mil. plastic. No pun intended.
Saturday, June 22 View Page
This year as wellI am combining the 3 greenhouses as one. here is a pic of them half way complete.
Saturday, June 22 View Page
this is looking in from the the center greenhouse towards the Breanas 902.5 Ulhmeyer plant in the distance and my 1272 Barker in the fore ground. Having the cover crop growing at the same time as the plants I think is a good idea except when your small tiller breaks and then I end up spending more $$ to fix it and not get it back for a couple weeks and then try to turn the soil. Uggg!

Ok oops. The last pic was of my 222 Barker which is for our clubs 10 x 10 contest. The 222 the the 1468.5 x self I mainly used it for the 1272 cross. But in some test germs it was a VERY aggressive seed . This is also a pic of the 222.

My 1272 on June 10th. So far all sets have aborted (5) I have rescently been trying several things to help. Ice near the kin, a fan and even went as far as to........................

Todays pollination on the 80 La Rue. will be crossing the 119 Barker into it.
Tuesday, July 16 View Page
Here is probably a weekend pollination on the 80 La Rue. I hope to only have 2 pollination's per plant but most likely will try to get one last one on each plant for the first week in August as a backup.
Tuesday, July 16 View Page
My 1272 at 30 days and looking A LOT like momma at this point. Haven't measured so my guess is high 200# to low 300#.
Tuesday, July 16 View Page
my 119 field Kin. I believe it is a early July pollination. This looks as if it picked up some length from the 79 Barker and some roundness from the 162 B that grew my 140.5. It appears there may be little to no stem stress on this guy. I would like to know of those growing out my 140.5 if there is any simularity to this one.
Tuesday, July 16 View Page
later set same plant. Same stem length but a shorter fruit.
Saturday, July 20 View Page
Extremely BUMMed today. I pulled my 1770 Lieber plant as everything I set aborted after 7-10 days. Also and this is most likely do to my inexperience but I only had 2 melons come on on my melon plant so I pulled it as well. So all that is in the big green house is the 119 Barker field kin and the 941 Sherwood.
Saturday, August 10 View Page
A week ago my 1272 taped 677 pounds and doing 28# per day over the last 14 days. I hope to get it measured this weekend because I can visually see that it has gained some significant weight. If it maintaned the per day growth it could be withing reach of 900#'s which would be great for this time of the season and .................. Well I will wait and see. My 941 Sherwood is doing well. Jim I think it will carry the shape of the 941 with the color of the 1495. My 902.5 Uhlmeyer looks NOTHING like my daughters which looks a lot like the mother and mine like the father both in shape a color. need to measure those as they are passed there 30 on the 4 and 6th of Aug. oops! Oh Found a couple GOOD sized maters on my 5.41 Harp plant weds. Wahooo.

Monday, August 26 View Page
Here is my 902.5 Ulhmeyer. Not looking anything like it's momma (1080 Hunt) but a lot like the male (1495 Stelts) Measuring in the high 800#'s

..... This was my 1272 Barker Kin from last year. I was pleased to see the other day that the one little furry animal that had been hopping around in my patch this year had been eliminated by another animal that doesn't have a taste for kins but sure loves rabbit.

So Off to Christensens Nursery in Mt Vernon I went. It was as close as a half an inch by measurement between mine and the first place kin. at the time of the 1103 was to be weighed the leader was 1054 and my kin estimated just barely over 1000#. I figured I had no chance at beating that and I basically consided to take 3rd. Well as you can see it went over 10% heavy at (the correct weight). I was PLEASENTLY surprised. Now Just one more to go.
Thursday, October 31 View Page
Well I really lucked out as the last pumpkin went light and I won with the only Kin I got to the scale. 1103 Barker (902.5 Uhlmeyer x Sibb Which grew the 1037.5 B. Barker) (see earlier posts for pics of hers). So today Eric Hawley is carving it for our churches be Ghost Bustin Blowout (Halloween) event. Pics coming
