For the last 4 days the weather has been screwy. The wind has been terrible but Last year I invested in some elec. tubing and wind fence and some shade cloth and it has really helped me this yr. It still lets some wind through but not so much that it rippes the leaves off the stock. We had 70mph+ winds last night and didnt lose any of my vines or leaves, so I am a very happy grower right now. All in all I am doing good just hope the weather gets a little better and the pumpkins will grow as good as the plants. Jon N.

This is a pic of a pumpkin set that I have on a side vine way out. I set a couple on sides because everything I set on the main vine was not taking so I figured I better get something to set. This is at day 9.

This is a pic of a female at 23ft. out. This is at day 7 she is set on the main vine. I really want this one to be the one. I have another female that looks like it took at around 25ft. but dont know for sure it is only four days old but looks good. The day that I pollinated the last female the main vine snapped off so I think that will be my last chance for the pumpkin on the main so I guess we will see what happens now.

A side vine took over for the new main but is dont seem to be growing at the rate the other did so maybe the plant thinks its pumpkin time. The 1149 pukos is an amazing plant. It is by far the biggest plant that I have grown. Right now the plant is close to 30ft. est in length with all the sidevines terminated except 2 on each side behind the first pumpkin set on main. So that means the plant is 30ft wide by 30 ft. long. Was wondering though How longt do most you guys leave bumper fruit on. Should I wait until the pumpkins get 50 to 60 pounds before making the choices. I should have Two on the main and a Pumpkin set way out on a side vine to choose from. Email me at [email protected] Thank You, Jon N.

Here is pic of the 222Navarro, its from the 1149 pukos, The pumpkin started out really nice but I have got some real problems with fusarium and Gummy stem blight this yr. I will have to make a new patch and let this one rest for a yr. or so. The plant did really well for me the 1149 never flagged in the heat and we have had a few days over 100 in a row and never showed stress. But anyways I atleatst got one to grow all season for me. I will grow some of these seeds next yr. Final mesurements were Circum 87, SS 61, fb 61= 209 OTT.
