Time to start my diary for 2008. This year I will be putting aside the proven seeds. I will be growing my 649 Spada '07 (1420.5 LaRue X 1502 Wallace). I have a good feeling about my 649!! I'll be crossing it with the 827 Sandvik '07 (1502 Wallace X 1446.6 Werner) That should make for a whole lot of BIG genetics! I also have another patch already 'tilled and ready to go at my bro's house. This patch is about double the size of my home patch. Not 100% sure whats going in there yet...I have a good idea though, but not quite 'in stone' yet...

Home patch: 3 of my 649 Spada plants hit the dirt (All in the mound) yesterday. Also have the 1689 Jutras and 827 Sandvik under lights. Started a few 113.5" Eaton '07 LG seeds tonight. Patch #2: Started a 1248 Ford and a 1290 Poirier tonight. Backup seeds will be started in a few days.

Been a while since last update, so here's the scoop.... Patch #1: plants in the ground are- my 649 Spada(competition plant), 1689 Jutras and 827 Sandvik. Patch #2 1010 Frantz (competition plant) and 1290 Poirier. Originally the 1248 Ford was supposed to be where the 1010 is, but the 1248 did some strange things... The seed was very slow from day 1 and eventually emerged, and 19 days later... still no sign of anything other than the seed leaves. It's still in the pot just to see what happens.

Patch#2 is a complete disaster! The 1010 Frantz threw the worse ribbon vine I have ever seen! I cut it back to the first secondary closest to the stump..Way behind now! My home patch 649 is doing well and is by far one of the best plants I have grown yet. Now I just need to seriously weed the patch and bury some vines, also need to get back on top of my foliar spraying...Been really busy lately. No sign of any SVB's yet..Knock on wood, will spray again tomorrow with some bifen.
