1116 Traylor... A tough, scrawny little plant that almost kicked the bucket due to lack of water and bad lamp burn in the garage. But, here on planting day, it's got potential and I believe!

1116 one week in ground.

1116 2 weeks in the ground (germ 4-28). This is a good plant and it's recovery is amazing.

1116 3 weeks after planting in ground. Made a rookie mistake when planting. It's vining the wrong way, almost 180@ the wrong way! Ya'think after 7 years I'd know better. We'll see if this 1116 has desire to push the envelope. Cloche is still over the plant until Fri. June 11th.

The cloche is standing on it's end. Getting ready to excavate the foreground plant, the 1022 Kuhn. Giving it to a co-worker. Risky because only 2 feet seperate it and the 1116. Both plants are going to take a hit, I know. But, hope to minimize the 1116 root damage as much as possible. Here goes...

Trench dug inbetween the plants about 8" deep. cut a few roots, you can see them dangling in the pic.

1116 Traylor 5 weeks in the ground. 8' main. Insecticide program: Cyonara 9.7%, Merit (BayerTreeAndShrub) and GrubX. Disease program: Daconil, Immunox rotated. Leaves have sunburn (on the main). I read that lack of K may leave the plant open to easy burn. Now, I'm adding K to my burying mixture.

1472 Werner 5 weeks in the patch.

My first setback... My pooche ran through the 1116 Traylor main and his claw damaged (put marks and a hole) into the main just before a second female pumpkin at 15'. The female was scratched deeper than the skin. The first female on this plant is aborting. I am hoping the scratch won't kill the second female. Other growers might train a close secondary into a new main. I don't know if the plant will do this but I might try. There are 3 females on the 1472 main, one pollinated at 10' with the 1116.

1116 3rd secondary. about 65cc in this pic. growing 3-3.5cc/day. 1116X1472Werner cross.

1116 Traylor main (1116 X 1472Werner) on 8-1-10. My initial hope for a PB. The 1116 has gone thru trials to get to this point. My dog put 5 holes in the main about 5ft before this pumpkin. And, 3ft before this pumpkin, I put a crack in the main when re-positioning it. I'm very thankful.

The 1116 Traylor has several cases of Pumpkin Proboscis.

I like this picture of the 1116 Traylor main pumpkin. It's sitting in a sea of green.

2 weeks later, the 1116 and 1472 jungle ! And, PM has arrived in the heat and humidity! My fungicide program is Daconil/Immunox and 2% milk (10% solution).

1472 secondary 20 days. Growing 3-3.5cc/day. But, the 1472 main will leave this baby in its dust if everything continues as it is.

1116 Traylor on 3rd secondary. (69cc) Well, it's doing 2.5cc/day. (day 36) A nice pumpkin, like its shape. I decided to cull it if the main pumpkin doesn't abort. This is the first pumpkin to start on the 1116.

2010 patch preparation! Thanks to Ted K and his amazing Midwest Organics compost! The best! Going to put 4in over the patch.

1472 werner (left) starts near the pool, grows toward the tree, curves around in a 'U' just in front of the tree and grows along the left edge of the patch. 1116 Traylor starts on the right about 3ft from the fence, grows to the left, angling toward the camera, then curves away from the camera to the center of the patch. 1116 secondaries cross the 1472 main. It's a jungle! very hard to work in this jungle. The patch is 17'X22' and widens to 22'X12'.
