Its been too nice out to sit around and wait until spring..I broad forked a section of garden space that was for tomatoes and other vegetables. This will allow at least 800sq/ft per plant.I also had to add a make shift cinder block wall to accommodate the over 100 yards of compost that was added over the years..Nice future home for the 1807.5 and 1495 Stelts

Turned the home made compost today too. Mostly leaves, aquatic plants, horse manure and kitchen scraps.

The starting line up..ready to hit the germination chamber. The weakest two will get whacked around mid-May. Starting a lot of extra of my 1098's and 362's for Jim's patch or anyone that needs a spare

All seeds germinated. The 1634 was the 1st to crack the seed coat in 24hrs..No doubt there will be some tough decisions to be made at culling time

I had to pull out all the tricks out of the trick bag to "try" to get a pumpkin set during this heat & wind..we will soon see. Next chance is a few days off. Right now,the plants are growing at least 1' in every direction (Per Day)

The plants survived the 101 temps yesterday. The .250 inch of rain was nice .. Pumpkins are set and of to the races. One pumpkin on the 1634 was at 20" at day 10. It will probably get wacked in favor of another pumpkin that looks to be set further down the vine..the 1495 looks to be set @17'

Nothing like getting the patch pruned and buried and looking near perfect..Then head out to get a new washing machine and lunch..come back home to a patch that is destroyed by 60 MPH winds and rain..

I would like to thank Shazzy for a much needed pep talk..Plants are looking better already. Never give up!

Nice gains on the 1495 pumpkin who will be named "Jack" for the rest of the story.. Raccoons, disease, storms, and bugs will try to take him down..On pace for a 1000+ right now..

Big numbers for a 10 day old pumpkin on the 1634.. 35" My biggest ever at this point. A potential beauty queen in the making..The sky's the limit right now for "Goldie"

It was a disappointing year here in the patch..The kids still have a blast stopping by for their annual field trip. Over the last 8 years over 1800 kids have been through to see the pumpkins and the ponds
