Hello,here are my seeds for 2009: 985 Werner, 1142 Van Kooten, 1248 Ford and back-ups: 1507 Jutras, 1180,5 Pukos and 1110 Wallace. Also 2 squashes: 848 Mackenzie and my own 1040 Van Rompaey.

Yesterday evening i filed the seeds and soaked them for 2 hours in plain warm water. After that i placed them in my homemade propagator at about 28 °C using the paper towel method.

This my big greenhouse, it is 5 m wide and 18 meter long. The frame is second hand and the plastic cover is new.

848* Mackenzie on the right is growing much too slow. I planted a 1180,5 Pukos on the left wich i had growing in a pot as a back-up. The 1180,5 was started morethan 10 days later and is already bigger tan the 848*. Will see what happens next week and will decide wich one i'm going too cull...

Planted an additional 1040* in the front of the greenhouse too make a sibbing-cross incase i have too cull the 848*. This 1040* is planted in the right front, it will grow with minor care and no water. Will give it a thick layer of mulching material.

I had to cut my pumpkin on the 985 Werner. What a dissapointment! When i got back from our 10-day vacation in Austria i found this fruit that had no growth at all! Can't explain this ; it was a nice female...

This pumpkin is on the 1507 Jutras and was pollinated on July 2 with the 985 Werner. Est.243 lbs / 110,5 kg. Round and high shape.

This is the only fruit on the 848* Mackenzie and was open pollinated while i was on vacation. All pollinated fruits aborted or had seeds in the blossoms. Very difficult plant to manage, very thick sidevines wich very quick are snapping. I cut the main after the fruit and it is on it's own now...

I won our local weigh-off yesterday for the sixth year in a row now. My 1507 Jutras weighed 555,5 kg or 1224,7 lbs. Est. weight was 547 kg so it is 1,5 % heavey. Will post more pics this week.

Officialy weighing the 1507: 550,2 kg or 1213 lbs, 4th place! So this is now the 1213 Van Rompaey 2009.

Officially weighing the 1142. I entered this one as a squash and the organisators exepted this. 447,4 kg or 986,3 lbs 2nd place. So this one will be 986 Van Rompaey 2009. Brad Wursten told me that the EGVGA will not exept this one as a squash, for them it is a pumpkin...

There was a tragically incident @ Duisburg. An uncarefull forklift-driver dropped Jonas' beautifull 982 lbs squash on the ground while loading. The bottom was cracked from side to side. A very sad moment for Jonas who was furious...I completly understand him. After this incident the driver refused to handle the other pumpkins from Jonas. Many hours of work destroyed in a second, a real pitty.
