This is the 1502 Wallace 06(1068 Wallace x 1354 Checkon). Got this seed kinda late and was planted on april 27. A few days after transplanting in the patch it was attacked by some bugs that had eaten the leaves. The young main is still intact and the plant is recovering.
Monday, May 28 View Page
And finally my last plant, the 1019 Megchelsen 06 (1068 Wallace x self).
Tuesday, May 29 View Page
For some reason the pic of my own European champion 1040,6 Van Rompaey 06* did not make it, so here it is. My biggest plant untill now and very fast growing...
Saturday, June 9 View Page
The 1131 Timm* has easely catched up with my 1040*, awsome looking plant!
Saturday, June 9 View Page
First female on the main of the 1131*, notice the long stem.
Saturday, June 9 View Page
My own 1040,6* growing very nice. Will cross the 1040,6 with the 1131 and vice versa. World champion x European champion, this would be some nice crosses...
Saturday, June 9 View Page
First female on the 1040,6* on the main vine. Notice the very long stem, this is coming from it's daddy; the 881 Beauchemin...
Saturday, June 9 View Page
The 1093,5 Hunt turned out to be a slow grower and i have no back-up for this plant. Going to hit it lightly with some nitrogen in the water.
Saturday, June 9 View Page
This is my second dissapointed plant of this year; the 1104,5 Hester. Don't know why it will not grow like it should. Very thin main and small side vines and slow growing. I have a back-up plant that is planted on the other side of the patch, growing in the opposite direction.
Saturday, June 9 View Page
This is the back-up for the 1104,5 growing between my patatoes. It is a 546,4 Zaychkowsky 06 (898 Knauss x 1068 Wallace) wich is a very nice cross. I'm serious thinking about pulling the 1104,5 and grow this one. Will wait another week and will decide then!
Saturday, June 9 View Page
The 1502 Wallace totally recovered and will lay down it's main tomorrow. Will be a late pollination on this one but i can cross this one with the others.
Saturday, June 9 View Page
My best pumpkin plant; the 1019 Megchelsen, growing very good.
Saturday, June 9 View Page
First female on the main of the 1019 Megchelsen. I hope the next females will have longer stems because this one is very short, too short...
Saturday, June 9 View Page
This is the back-up for the 1502 that i planted between my patatoes on the other side. It is a 1225,3 Pukos 06 (1231,3 Pukos x self) and is also growing in the opposite direction. Looks like a very good plant. If the 1502 turns out to be a strong growing plant i will pull the 1225,3...If not i will grow this one!
Sunday, June 17 View Page
The 1131* is growing very good and has big leaves and strong vines. Will have to terminate the first sidevines tommorow. Behind it you can see my giant and normal tomatoes in the hoophouse. Also some giant sunflowers behind it
Sunday, June 17 View Page
Third female on the main of the 1131* about 12 foot from the stump. Will be ready to pollinate in a couple of days.
Sunday, June 17 View Page
The 1040,6*, is also very strong plant and will have to terminate the first sidevines tomorrow.
Sunday, June 17 View Page
Female on the main of the 1040,6 ready to pollinate tommorow. It is about 12 feet from the stump.

The 1093 Hunt is still growing slow...Thin sidevines also.
Sunday, June 17 View Page

Disaster on my 1502 Wallace... The first female that would be pollinated tomorrow is destroyed some bird! The first fruit on my 1019 has a little hole too but will survive. I covered all my mains and fruits so they are not in reach anymore of that mean beast!
Sunday, July 8 View Page

Monday, July 30 View Page
another nice one on a sidevine but open pollinated. Fruit on the main aborted
Monday, July 30 View Page
fruit on the 1040* has a stemsplit that is going into the cavity. This is the result of heavy rainfall we had here last week. Est. weight is 115 kg or about 253 lbs. A shame it was a beautiful fruit.

Will be away for 9 days for a holiday in Austria (Sölden). When i come back we will see if i will stop this diary or not because things are not looking good. Almost sure there will be no weighing for me in Duisburg...See you in 9!!
Sunday, September 16 View Page
This is a fruit on a sidevine on the 1093,5 Hunt. All other fruits on the main aborted, or rotted. I grow my plants in the open air and with this cold and wet summer that is catastrofal. If i only had big greenhouses like Jos...
Sunday, September 16 View Page
Fruit on the main of the 1104,5 Hester wich is selfed. Est. 277 kg or 610 Lbs. The stump rotted away several weeks ago along with 4 sidevines. So this is not so bad for a stumpless plant. The 2 squash plants (1131 and 1040)i had to pull out because they suffered from a soil dissease...
Sunday, September 16 View Page
Open pollinated fruit on the 1502 Wallace with a huge stemsplit. All fruits on the main aborted, rotted or splitted...90% of the male flowers did not mature. I still think this is a very good seed but did not like our cold and wet soil this year, sorry pap!
Sunday, September 16 View Page
Fruit on the 1019 Megchelsen (1068 Wallace x self), i crossed this one with the 1104,5 Hester. Est. 277 kg or 610 Lbs. This is a season to forget i think and keep my fingers crossed for Jos because he has a big chance to win in Duisburg! Keep it going Jos!!!!!!!!!!
Monday, September 17 View Page
Forgot to mention that the 1019-fruit is growing on a stumpless plant too. 2 sheep got in the patch a few weeks ago and destroyed the stump and a few sidevines...
Thursday, September 27 View Page
The fruit on the 1019 was getting soft today, cut her open and get the seeds. Very low seed count, only 5 viable ones. So i have only the fruit on the 1104 for our weigh-off next saturday.
Sunday, October 14 View Page
On september 29 whe had the weigh-off at our hometown. I won with my 1104 Hester fruit that weighed 338,5 kg / 746,2 Lbs. It was est. 264,4 kg / 582,9 Lbs, that's 28 % heavy!!! Not bad for a pumpkin that is grown on a stumpless plant with only 75 % sidevines left!! Seeds will be: 746 Van Rompaey 2007, cross is: 1104 Hester x self.
Sunday, October 14 View Page
Another pic of my 746.
Sunday, October 14 View Page
A week later we went to Duisburg were i finised 6th place, after a week it weighed 335 kg, so she lost 3 kg. At the Pic you can see Jos with his 1502 fruit, awsome!!!
Sunday, October 14 View Page
Again Jos,now with his 998 fruit...i was glad to touch it, unbelieveble!!! BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! Congrats to the European champion. Way to go Jos, hopefully the seed count will be high, if possible i will plant it next season.
Saturday, November 24 View Page
This is why my 1104 Hester-fruit went 28 % heavy; very thick walls and almost no concave! Only 64 good seeds where inside. Seeds are called: 746.2 Van Rompaey 2007. This was my last entry, take care and grow'em big in 2008!!
