The 1566 Rodonis for the Indiana State Fair was soaked and planted on Thursday (3-13-08)at 2 p.m. It broke thru the soil around 6 a.m. this morning (3-18-08). It is now under the grow light to green up then it will go out in the greenhouse in about two days. I will get photos of it when it is put in the greenhouse.

Here is a picture of my 1566 Rodonis. this is my Indiana State Fair plant. It has been in the greenhouse since Friday the 21st. I have been really impressed with this little plant so far as the air temp in the greenhouse has gotten over 90 several times and it has shown no signs of stress or wilting.

Here is the 1566 state fair plant two weeks after going outside. The first leaves that came out are a little droopy but it was close to 100°F. inside the greenhouse when this picture was taken. If all goes well I will have a vine on the ground in a week or so.

All but one of my main season plants went into the ground today(5-6). I had three not germinate on me, they include the 1273 Howard, the 606 Clark and the 1016 Daletas which began to grow then just turned to mush:(. I will be starting the second 606 that Bill sent to me here in the next few days.

I pollinated a flower on my 1566 Rodonis Fair plant on the 8th of June that was five lobes and selfed. The rest of my plants are still recovering from the very cool spring we have had and the weed killer that drifted onto them from the farmers field. Season is way behind but not done by a long shot!

Day 10 circumference measurement for my 1566 Rodonis fair fruit is 22 inches, the pace has picked up here in the last few days and the plant looks good and strong. Now as for my main season plants it looks pretty ugly. I have three plants that are starting to look decent...1065 McKie, 869.5 Calai and the 606 Clark. The rest of them are having a hard time dealing with the farmers weed killer, the rain, the wind that seems to be relentless this year and the hail we had the other night. But the season is long!

Main patch is down to four plants as several finally gave in to the weather issues. Plants that are left include the following...606 Clark, 869.5 Calai, 275 Van Hook, and the 995* Vincent. The 606 is the only one that was out after they got hit with the weed killer and is looking very aggresive!
