587 Dill 08. My 5 gallon challenge lol. This plant is growing strong, might be a good seed for the patch next year.
Thursday, July 16 View Page
My 587 Dill project has not gone well. Lost 2 pollinations and now it looks like I will only be getting males from it. The pumpkin sets were round and had good stem size.
Thursday, July 16 View Page
I missed the 1st 2 pollinations on my 583 Young plant. I was able to pollinate the 3rd one with 587 Dill. Pumpkin sets are round with a very short stem. I will have to terminate the vine the pumpkin is set on.
Thursday, July 16 View Page
The 1450 Wallace plant will not have a pumpkin on it. A 5 gallon pot will work for long gourds but not pumpkins.
Thursday, July 16 View Page
The 678 Bozworth is looking good. I just made a couple pollinations on it this week. 678 Boz x 846 Beachy

1500 Revier. Had a good one going on this one. Was on pace for 1,100 lbs. Been dealing with stem issues since about day 45 due to freakishly large stem.
Tuesday, September 1 View Page
This is most of the stem sitting in front of a 1 gallon milk jug.
Tuesday, September 1 View Page
The gunky looking part where the hole is is where the stem attached to the vine. The bumpy white part on the left is where the stem kept tearing and healing. At some point a white fungus entered into the stem despite painting it with daconil and running a fan 24 hrs a day. Up until yesterday the stem and vine looked normal on the outside. But I discovered the inside had turned to mush.
Tuesday, September 1 View Page
Here it is, the pumpkin is sound but the stem is cut off. Too bad the plant was still in pretty good shape. Taped 351" OTT on day 55.

Here is the 853 Rahe 2009. estimated at 907 lbs on day 55 when it was harvested due to stem rot issues. Was on track for a personal best. Still weighed 853 on Oct. 3rd after sitting around for 5 weeks. The cross is Female: 1500 Revier X Male: 1450 Wallace

4.1 lb. Rahe 09 uow (Tetsukabuto x 678 Bosworth) Tetsukabuto is know for its resistance to soil diseases 678 Bosworth is 1450 Wallace x 1402 Bosworth I would expect the progeny would go about 60 lbs and be light orange and round. A second outcross could produce far larger specimens. This is the cross for you if you want to tinker with adding disease resistance to C. maxima
