Its a new year and big plans are in the mix. I have already bought a 2000 square foot irrigation system and plan on turning my attention to Giant Field Pumpkins this year. Im not sure where to get good ones from. I had a nice member here send me some back in November and my mail carrier ruined them. They were cracked badly. With this mild winter we have had so far i am actually thinking about doing another till this month. We are extending the pumpkin field and have quite a bit of work to do. I hope everyone has had a great start to the new year. And hope some breaks some RECORDS!

well this year has already had its challenges. early on I decided to only do FP this year. I have a couple Scherber128s in the ground. very impressive seeds, up and out of the soil in 3 days. Now the challenges. 1. weather 2. aphids 3. rabbits the new farm has 200 acres and not many wind breaks. the wind killed 80% of the first plants put out. now the rabbits are trimming the smaller plants. they are surviving but growing like bushes.Luckily they have left alone the large FP. just mainly the pie and Summit/Apogee.

A picture of the back up plants at the house. In the upper left corner is a plant from a pumpkin I harvested last year. It was a female Gold rush crossed by a male flower of a Howden. Its monstrous compared to the Summits and Apogees. Might just have to make room for him.

What should I put here? We spent the weekend burning a old wood pile. Its all tilled up and ready to go. I'm thinking some pie pumpkins or possibly 2 Summits.

The Apogees are just now starting to running out. Definitely been a weird year weather wise. This time last year I was begging for rain. And this year it has been cool and wet.

Pollinated pumpkin #2 this morning. Happy that I had zero plant lost in those crazy storms. But days like today give me time to play around with my website.

High winds are continuing to be a nuisance. But the plants are looking good. Right now Summits are out performing the Apogees by a wide margin. Even doing better than the pie and cotton candy pumpkins. Also have probably the weirdest problem. we have a bee box, but the bees refuse to go in the patch. I have to work at 5 am every morning and don't know what to do
