Haven't updated my diary for a while! Final weight of the 1723 Marshall was 200.6lbs. I am very happy with it. The 1307 Holub is taping at around 253lbs at the moment, but won't grow much more since I have no leaves left. Mildew was a major factor. Hoping to keep the 1307 Holub on the vine for a few more weeks, so it will last for our local show which is on the 16 April. Pics to follow!

I picked the 1307 Holub a few weeks ago, and it came in at 275lbs. Genetics are 1307 Holub X 1723 Marshall. Great colour! Thankyou Scott for the seed and thanks everyone else for the info and help. Stem was snapped off during lifting so trying to keep it dry with a small fan and a 1:10 bleach/water solution.

Added 300sq ft to the main patch. It is now 1300sq ft. Soil is getting much better. Will add a thick layer of well rotted cow manure, add some dolomite lime, till it all in and then plant a cover crop. Looking forward to planting again already!

Patch number 2. Photo is not the best. Size is 350sq ft. This patch needs a lot of work, since there was nothing but weeds growing in it for the past 4-5 years. I've added 60lbs of gypsum, watered down with liquid gypsum, tilled in grass clippings and then added some organic granular. Will till in some composted cow and horse manure and then plant a cover crop.

Second cover crop of Winter Rye on the main patch. First cover was peas. Anyway, this will be the spot for the 980 Fredricks... 350sq ft :) I left the stump areas clear so I could add sand, amendments etc..

This 650sq foot patch will hold the 1067.5 Kent or the 1401 Urena. With 2 months left till planting, I may just add manure instead of a cover.. We'll see! :)

My plan was to grow another pumpkin in this patch here. I went ahead and dug a massive pit for the stump (I thought I could fill it up with good soil)... Turns out this was a bad idea.. After even the lightest rain, it fills right up like a slimy bath! Sorry Martin, I do have a patch near my school, so hopefully the 1000 Grenchik will see dirt.

1080 Hunt has germinated! However, the 901 Hunt has little transparent worms wriggling around inside of the shell... I don't think it will make it :'( Started 2 1000 est Grenchiks (1495 Stelts X 1789 Wallace) and 1 1012 Matesa (901 Hunt X 1161 Rodonis) Won't be able to grow as many pumpkins as I had previously planned due to limited funds. Don't want to give great seeds crap soil. So only 2 kins will be grown this year. Disappointing, but my money is going into to my car now.

Well, the 901 Hunt was eaten by tiny transparent worms, my 1080 Hunt came up with three cots and had the first true leaves fused to the cotyledons and my 1012 Matesa rotted.. Bit of a hard start over here, trying to get a 1401 Urena (991x901) and a 1381 Checkon (1288x1161) going right now. Hopefully i'm not too far behind!
