My daughter and son helped me spread 16 tons of sand across the garden. All I need is a lake now, too much sand.

I have attached a photo of my 2012 lineup that survived. I planted several others that growers had provided me and unfortunately, they didn't germinate or they froze. I lost many plants mid May this year, even in my milk jug greenhouses.
As you can see, I'm trying to grow big and ORANGE.

My hail netting is up, but we have only had two hail storms this year so far. I guess it's helped with all the heat. My pumpkins have taken a beating being over 6000 ft elevation and having temps close to 100.

I have sustained substantial damage to most of my plant due to the Nitrogen and the extreme heat.

I have posted pictures of all my plants with little narratives to http://www.pumpkinfanatic.com. I'm looking forward to using the http://reporting.vegetabletoplant.com tools to record my measurements online.

Photo of the 1244 Rea. I have been trimming sick vines. I wanted to go with a pumpkin further out, but since that vine's leaves die, I went with one closer. Day 14

I have uncovered my 1244 Rea to get a photo with my daughter. This is the plant that Matt D. had me start chopping infected vines. The pumpkin is gorgeous except for the few cat scratches. It's still growing despite the plant having some problems. It was crossed with the 1306 Mohr and I will definitely be growing the seeds from this one next year.

Here is the first glimpse of the 1365 Singleton. I was hoping for orange and ended up with GHOST white. This plant has the 1620 Leiber. It is growing very well and continues to put on weight. It is low to the ground and thumps real heavy!!!!!!

1244 REA continues to put on good weight for me, even past day 50. We have had numerous nights now in the low 40s, but this one keeps chugging away. I am confident it will be my personal best since it is already measuring that way.

Oh the carnage!!!! I made it home from my son's tennis match and the big pumpkin had splits everywhere! Upon closer investigation the cats apparently used it as a slide. Where they clawed the pumpkin, it is separating. I don't see that it has gone all the way through yet.
I used bleach and water and now it's just wait and see. I might post pics tomorrow, but I'm also afraid to look anymore.

I have renamed my pumpkin this year. Originally, it was named Mr. Orange, but now its name is "Cat Scratch Fever"
OTT 331.5 on Day 61.
The entire pumpkin is covered in scratches now. The larger scratches are deep.

It's amazing that a cat can do so much damage and leave a scratch marks so deep.
My heart sank when I saw this and now I'm hoping it stays together until the weigh-off.

1306 Mohr is no more. This beauty went down today due to a blossom end split. This one was my wife's favorite.

The front view of the 1244 REA. I purchased some sulfur dust to apply to all the missing skin that the voles chewed away. One more week!!!!!
Fingers are crossed that it will make it.

My final entry for the 1244 Rea. It weighed 15% light to the chart, but was a real beauty! I figure the voles cost me at least 175 pounds on this pumpkin. :)
