Put in heating cable yesterday, revived the hot house and set it up today. I'll attempt to start an early plant again this year. I hope to have better luck with cables and heat lamp to speed things along! PS, Red Bull is ranked number seven Saint Brenard!!!!!

Pictures will be coming soon... batteries purchased!!! My 289 Boyd* is out about 2 1/2 feet and looking good. Hoping this one produces an early prize winner! Two weeks behind it is a 216 Boyd* and looking well! Germinated this week a 1476.5 Delatas 11, 1180 Krause 10. For green this year we have a 1132 Vincent- McGill 08 germinated this week. I have two Hoosier melons from my 67 Boyd* already out in the garden. Also germinated this week are four 134 Crosby 05 heavy melons. One is very nice looking plant the others are a bit week. My only Mudd Melon seed failed to germinate:( No dog shows this weekend or next, so I'll be up early with camera in tow.

Having a good start to the season, despite roundup damage, and a very busy dog show season. Thrilled to have a seed request from Ben in Australia. I was very slow in getting it sent:( Sorry Ben. Best to all!

Baked Potayoe weather. No doubt, I could fry an egg on the blacktop, nut, it's the getting it there before it's cooked! Fourth straight day of 100 - 108 degree temps. Operating without any shade cloth! Makes it hard on the growth. I'll try to get some measurements this evening on the 216 Boyd 11* crossed with the 1476.5 Delatas 11.
Monday, July 2 View Page
Abortions at 32.4 lbs. should be ILLEGAL!!! No extra kiddie pools to make shade with :( Fierce callenges with this heat and limited budget. Hope the late pollenations will be good enough.

Still tring to get a real set on the pumpkins. One at 7days just shy of soccer ball size, and several others. Setting out ice jugs every mornig before work. Have a couple melons of descent size, nothing noteworthy. The skunk cap is getting very tight!

OK, I think it might be safe to crank up the camera.... I have two sets on the 1476.5 Delatas. Both are on either rear secondaries. One has made it to 20 days today, will measure and photo tomorrow, second one is at 14 days and will must likely die tomorrow <- 216 Boyd est is a beast of a plant having made mockery of the scoarching heat, it consumes 1000 sq. ft. and currently sits with five little sets on it! It will lose three by the end of the weekend<- 1184 Krause'10 had a very rough start but has two sets on it now, none on the adopted main -> A couple of nice melons are coming along very nicely. I may have to study how to measure one of the 135 Crosy'05s' It's imperresive!

I didn't make it with the tape measurer!I must confess, I lied in ignorance, my dog has not reached Platinum, but he did reach Bronze ( first level of three). Currently stands at number 3 in Grand Champion Points for Saint Bernards!

1476.5 Delatas 21 days, Saturday. Paranoid to take any measurement!

216 Boyd* X 1476.5 Delatas thirty five or more feet on main. !4 days Saturday. Oh, yeah, the Delatas set is a X self. I have a restart 289 Boyd* that will be Producing females in a week or two. Also a nice set on the 67 Boyd Mt. Hoosier melon!

I'm down to the 1184 Krause plant with two nice sets on it. Yeaup, I'm gonna leave them both on, all the way to whatever ends there growth. 135 Crosby melon has stopped and will get pulled and weighted on bathroom scale soon. I Hope to Change my out come for next year, provided I get some Financial Aide! The heat was a major factor, but, with out shade cloth up I don't think I'll be able to get a large pumpkin. I 'll have to wait and see if there is anything to take to Bear Wallow. Not looking good at all. Congradulations to all those who suffered through the weeks of brutal 100+ temps and kept anything alive, and hats off to those who actually have a contestant to bring to a weight off!
