Today is Easter. After church Matt and I went to Jim and Kathy’s house (Matt’s parent’s/my in-law’s) for Easter lunch and dinner.
My family has a tradition of going water skiing on Easter. That is usually our first trip. Matt and I continue the tradition each year. However, today, we broke our Easter tradition by not going water skiing. We didn’t like breaking the tradition but it was so windy we decided the water was going to be terrible and we didn’t want to deal with the wind and terrible water.
After lunch, I went out to the orchard (where I will plant my giant pumpkins) and picked up trimmings from the trees. Kathy had about half the trimmings loaded on the trailer. After Jim finished with his project he came out to the orchard and helped me finish. We dumped the first trailer full of branches in the front pasture with all the other branches. Then, we loaded the trailer again and dumped that load in the front pasture. Then, we were done picking up the trimmings.
Jim then turned all the weeds in the orchard under by disking the dirt with the tractor. Wednesday (when I’m off work) or next weekend I’ll go back over and spread some horse manure and help Jim rototill the orchard. Then, when my pumpkins are ready to transplant, the orchard will be ready for them.

This morning I saw I had one broccoli sprout in the seed starter tray. This evening I saw I have an additional broccoli sprout and a bean sprout in the starter trays. I have bean sprout coming up in the barrel in the back yard. And, Jim helped me spread manure in the orchard this afternoon. Then, he rototilled the orchard so it is ready for planting when my pumpkins are ready to plant.
I had no idea changing implements on the tractor could require so much pounding and hammering though.
