Today was busy planting all the giant pumpkins and squash in the patch! We planted 45 giant pumpkins and 50 prize winners. We still have about 10 back-up plants in the greenhouse in case something happens to a few of the pumpkins in the ground. This picture is round one of the giant pumpkins with only prize winners loaded.

This year we are going to be using three varieties of seaweed. We are very fortunate that a buddy of dads is becoming a distributor and he is located in eastern Ontario for these products. Contact at: [email protected] if you are interested in any of these seaweed products.

With the weather we have been having over the past few weeks, the cabbages sure havent been growing very well. Some of the cabbages have yellow leaves on the bottom as it was so wet where I have them planted. Hopefully they come back to life with the sunshine.

The pumpkins are looking great! I am very happy with how well they have pulled through with the weather. We have been keeping the ground tilled up to help dry it out and to keep it loose. The pumpkins and squash have just started their secondary vine growth. They have also been enjoying the two days of heat and sunshine that we have had. This should give them a good growth spurt.

With the weather being so hot and dry, we laid irrigation today so we can water the giants. We put an inch of water on the plants today. The pumpkins and squash are coming along really well, with the patch looking the best it ever has for week control and vine organization. We also started pollination on July 2nd and will be pollinating for over a week now to get all the plants done.
