Well, still living in same place for now, and still tiny little patch, I can get bigger out of it yet! Still every bit as good for a genetics patch. This year only room for one Pumpkin, and it I will be starting a seed from the 1028Gienger2009 on the 5th of May, depending on weather. Only got room for one plant, so might as well take the gamble with one that I would love my pumpkin to look like! Here is a picture of the 1028 Gienger 2009, in all her Glory. I want to grow one that looks just like her!

Talked to Travis on the phone the other day, says he has a 1028 in a pot already, and an extra that was his backup. He was gracious enough to let me give the extra a home. Thank you Travis! Plan is to pick it up around the 20th to 25th, depending on my work schedule, and get it in the ground beginning of may. He says its in a 5 Gallon pail, cut and taped. Sounds good to me. Now I just need to get my soaker hose buried in the garden before she goes in. That is the thing about limited space. I got to do everything right, or I will not even get a living pumpkin by the end of the season. My Patch may be limited to genetics patch size, but I want to do better with it than last year. Plan is to self the 1028 seed. Hopefully it will look as pretty as the mother, that is the goal this year. ORANGE.

Well here's an angle my wheel looks good from. :) Were are ets around 300 now, and I have not taped her for a bit. She was pollinated on the 28th of June. Right now she is averaging at 10 pounds a day. My patch is only 120 square feet, and I was really hoping to break 500 this year. Right now, keeping my fingers crossed however, as she has a blossom end split, not into the main cavity yet, so far as I can tell, and just caked it down with a mix of Daconil and Captain powder into a paste.

Well, here we are with the split from last night. 6 inchs long, around the blossom, and about 2 inch above. I stuck a wood dowel in it gently, and does not seem to go into the center of the fruit yet.

Well, caked her down with the Daconil and Captain paste.

Growing with the pain trimmed after the pumpkin. Very little stem stress. I also cut off the closest secondary to the pumpkin today, to maybe slow down growth a bit. Not a competivtive pumpkin by any means, but still want to have A pumpkin at the end of the season. Too much too fast and shes a goner.

Put some of the excess captain around the stem end too, can't hurt. Hope slugs dont like it.

GRAARRGGHH!!!! The split continued to widen! Got into the main cavity too. Blast. Well it may be DMG, but I have seen a few at least be saved to become jack-o-lanterns later on Halloween. What I have seen done on this site, is caking in silicone, and that is exactly what I did. I used the type for kitchens and bathrooms. I left the captain and daconil on, I figured if some fungiced got trapped under the silicone it could not hurt anything. We will see if she keeps growing. I may have to keep cramming more of it in there, but I will still have a pumpkin. Silicone. Organic Gardening at its best.
