Time for a Diary.Germination was a nightmare this year.Lost a few dam good seeds.I will never germinate another seed without a soil thermometer. My line up for this year is.
1330 Johnson-Butler(985 x 1161)
1475 Rever(1207 x 1385)
850 Graham(664liggett x 1287vankooten)
The 1330 is a monster of a plant as far as i'm concerned but the 1475 and the 850 were planted 2 weeks later and are moving along very nicely. All 3 plants are extreemly healthy looking.

The 1330 is pretty near as stubborn as the 1287Vankooten but a few elastic bands, bamboo sticks and a couple of Canadian and i think i can break her.lol

The 1330 has pretty much out grown it's home.On it's own in this location on the 11 of june is very risky. What do you think John?I wasn't planning on growing this year anyway so i will take a chance on making another early pollination date and if the plant makes it.Great. If it doesn't.OH WELL. More room for the next one.

Very high winds forcasted for today.Northwest winds at 50-60km with gusts to 80km/hr.If we recieve these winds here in Donkin today there is a very good chance the 1330 will not survive.

Got home from work tonight at midnight.Walked out into the patch with the flashlight and guess what? The 1330Johnston-Butler is demolished.Every leaf is broken but the main and side vine tips are still intact. For 4 years now i have been trying everthing possible to keep these plants healthy and give them as much protection from the wind as i can. Tonight i finally realized that i am wasting my time ,energy and money trying to grow AG's in a climate as harsh as this. This is definetly my last season trying to grow outdoors. My next AG's will be grown inside a green house.

The 1330Johnston-Butler after the wind storm. What a %$#&%#%shame. It is grown back to back with my 850 which may end up getting a whole lot more garden space expected.I will give it a few days to perk up.If not it goes away.

The 1330 is trying very hard to move but it suffered quite a bit more damage than i had first realized. There is no way it can grow out fast enough to give me a pollination date that i am hoping to meet. The plant will be removed to make room for my 850 which was grown back to back with it.Sorry John but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and believe me when i tell you that it hurts me as much as it hurts you. Room for 2 extreemly large plants this year.I wonder if that will make a difference.

The 1475 and the 850 are great plants to work with.Very easy plants to manage and very quick to blast out those secondaries.Secondaries are huge on the 850 but still remain very flexable. So far, both pumpkins are growing like crazy.Hey Chris,i don't like the look of that blossom end split.Soooooo very thin. Good luck with the rest.

It is just amazing what a good rain can do for these pumpkins. From 10pm last night to 9am this morning the 1475Reveir put on 4.5(in/cir).Day 20 tomorrow. With only a few secondaries termed, the 850 took quite a spurt also.
