With the recent weather, my rye has been out of control here. Unfortunately, no matter how much I hate to say it......I'm just not feeling the whole "gardening" thing this year :(

All tilled under before the rains came last night. Trying to get in some type of mode here.

Not a good start North of Buffalo here. Melons are growing slow. Lost 1 plant already due to hunger. Hopefully this will give some halfa$$ daytime protection, atleast for a couple weeks.

Pulled my first terrible, yellow, wilted looking 996* Nub plant out last Friday and replaced her with the smaller potted backup along with a small dose of calcium nitrate. This one looks "Much" better and she's just starting to vine. Only a few days behind previous years.....

Unfortunately, 3 polls did not take last week and after searching for almost an hour last night through the thick layers of vines and leafs and 100's of Male Flowers, I could not find 1 single female. I sprayed good with Recover 3-18-18 tonight......I won't give up.

Day 4 - 996 x 1125 Haist, 20 feet out. I don’t think this one took either Paul. I’ll have 1 last attempt about 24 feet out very soon here. Damn these Greenies are fussy…..

I got many babies appearing now. They are all open pollinated. This one seems to be the fastest growing and I am guessing about 5-6 days old.

In the last couple days I have found multiple long thin splits/cracks on the tops of my melon vines. Any ideas what causes this? Dryness? Heat? Normal?

I really don’t know what else to say (it still hasn’t sunk in yet), but the sign says it all. I would like to thank Karl Haist and Andy Wolf for all their help/advice and responding to all my “Panicking” emails throughout the entire season (I know I can be a BIG pain in the a$$ guys). Thanks ! 1221.5* Robinson (996* Haist x 1807.5 Stelts)
