All the planning and work and in just a few moments a hungery squirrel can mess you over. This is the main on my 1610.

1320 Faskell, First female (9') bloomed yesterday but no male flowers bloomed with it. One more female at about 12' out will bloom in a few days. Found some squirrel damage on one secondary. Putting out RAT traps tomorrow morning in patch. Have caught 2 in live traps.

Nice secondary is taking over as the main. Hard to tell that the nub used to be the main.

1320 Faskell--I had given up on this pumpkin. I went on vacation and left the sprinklers going on a timer. There was also a hard rain while I was gone. The shoulder of the pumpkin put pressure on the upstream side of the vine. When I returned the vine was split length ways at the stem. I cut the upstream vine off, but figured my season was over. After a couple of weeks I went out to cut the pumpkin off and pull the vines when I noticed that the pumpkin was still growing. This pumpkin gained another 300 lbs before it quit growing 6 days ago. Today was my first off day so I picked it, had a backhoe lift it and had it weighed.

Scale receipt. Previous Arkansas Record was 684 lbs.
Wish I could of picked it when it stopped growing, but working 6am to 6pm made that impossible. Wonder how much weight it lost in 6 days?

Niece and nephew with pumpkin in my front yard. There has been a lot of folks stopping by to talk and take their picture with the pumpkin.
