New this year for the 1725 Harp-The "Hain vine pin" and 2 bottles of 'make 'er break';) Pretty intense heat here in S.Ontario, plants o.k so far...may water next week;)

Warm weather returns, and plants are starting to pick up. Pictured is the 1725 Harp. Some plants are a little larger, some are are a little smaller, but on average this is where i'm at. None seem to be overly unhealthy and have only lost a few vines to early morning adjustments and a few leaves to a cuc.beatle flare-up:)

Unfortunately due to circumstance, some of my plants are quite behind...picture is "Joe" the 1002...a 'surviving sort', but shouwing signs of her mistreatment and bad breeding;)

1468 Stevens @ Day 32. One of the few not attacked by vine borer. Plant was a little behind but seems to have picked up a bit in the heat.

I know I can't compete in this department with the other St.Thomas boyz...so I play:)

With highly flexible vines and a great heritage this 716 Dill x 1185 Kline will eventually produce the prettiest pumpkin on the planet....if not, it still looks good in green:)

After being bound, incarerated, unlawfully confined at the boarder and finally kicked at soccer ball size, this 1102 x self hits 193 ott after 20 days.
Tuesday, July 31 View Page
Sorry, that's "1002" x self

1468 Stevens @ day 40. If the rabbits would leave her alone she might have a chance to grow.
Tuesday, July 31 View Page
"Sired" by the 1002, the 1037 could still come out to play. Fruit growing more like the maternal (1217) side though, no great gains.

Growing 'free range' for her seed the 1002x1002 @ day 32 has an ott of 257"...Due to circumstance this squash is, and will be 'limited'. (I won't be composting her seed this time though until i give them a trial run;)

1486-not the ideal shape but sits around 400.

Pulling back the leaf canopy there appears to be yellow...oh what to do? It's going to be a pumpkiin! ...Expose a true squash and they will live up to their full potential.
Sunday, August 19 View Page
As a very 'sectional' pumpkin the 1468 Stevens was coming on strong in the back stretch...a little too strong:( Did 27 lbs a day over the last 5 days on the tape but 'pinholed' over what appears to be a developing dill ring in a rib. Taped 1061 on day 60, but I bet (like most of us in this biz;)..."It woulda went heavy!" :)

Two days ago I told my dad.."If it goes down anywhere, this is where it'll be"...and it did:(

Thursday, September 13 View Page
A good example of how enviromental conditions can affect fruit coloring. Exposure will normally enchance the color of fruit according to it's genetic predisposition...apples, pumpkins, squash and yes even gourds are affected;) can also be modified by the environmental conditionsto

Condo variety squash...1002 grown on 150 sq.ft of plant still has produced a pretty nice fruit.

1037 Jarvis GVGO(squash)SOTY crossed on 1014 kuhn. Although attacked by vine borer early, this squash has kept pushing. Strong plant and shallow ribbed, will make my 2013 shortlist;).

Lift and placement with tripod in under 8 minutes with the 'Butler Wonder Clevis';)(patent pending;)
Saturday, September 22 View Page
All the help required for 1?30 lb. lift:) Tripod worked great...soft spot diagnosis, not so good. Not through to the cavity (if there is one:o), might have jumped the gun. Another learning experience;)
Monday, November 19 View Page
1464 Jarvis (1725 Harp x 1468 Stevens) after being exposed and used by "CELEBRITY CHEFS". (The downside...one viable seed in all that cavity...dagnabit!)
