Friday I started a new experiment before the start of my season. I started 4 of my seeds using PumpkinPro, Myco Blast, Root Blast, and one for Control. I wanted to see how the Myco Blast did against the PumpkinPro.

For some reason the site won't let me upload the aerial image. In other news the Control seed broke soil yesterday morning, and the PumpkinPro broke soil yesterday evening.

The Myco Blast seed broke soil this morning. I am still waiting for the Root Blast to come up.

For this little experiment that I did I used the seeds from my pumpkin last year. I used a soil mix of 1/3 each or perlite, peat moss, and vermiculite. The Control and the Myco Blast plants looked the best. The Control plant broke soil 2 full days before the Myco Blast plant, and about 10 hours before the PumpkinPro plant. I will just say that the RootBlast plant did not do so well. I will not use that for the vegetable plants this year. I will not make a suggestion on what to use. I only did this because I was wondering how they would stack up to eachother.

This year I am going to try to make my own version of Dunkel's Original Tomato Plant Fortifier. I have all the ingredients. I just need to figure out the recipe. If I succeed I will call it Gritch's Tomato Food.

I am also going to try to make Dunkel's Devestating Giant Pumpkin & Squash Fortifier. If I succeed I will call it Gritch's Pumpkin Food.

Start one of my 650 (estimated) seeds, and a 921.5 Gerhardt seed on May 5th. Same day I try to start on every year. I also started some tomato seeds: 3.308 Diaz, 4.20 Diaz, 7.18 Harp, 7.33 Hunt, 5.51 MegaMarv, 6.5 Delicious, and a 6.25 Brutus Magnum.

Put the 921.5 Gerhardt into the second hoop house. I will use this seed as the pollinator. I will plant the other seed out in 2 days.

A photo of the new hoop house I built for the pumpkins this year. This is the one for my main plant.

I figure I am about 8 days behind where I was this time last year. No biggie. Both plants are on the ground now.

All tomato plants but 1 are in the hoop house hardening off. I will plant them on Tuesday or Wednesday. That just leaves one late bloomer in the germination tank for a few more weeks.

I had to dry the amino acid a bit. Now that it is dry I can finish my Gritch's Tomato Food, and Gritch's Pumpkin Food. Time to test them out.

I think the squash bugs did me in this year. First plant was lost to heat, and the second one looks like YVD. The squash bugs were bad earlier this year. I will try to get some pictures up tomorrow. Looks like this year will just be about tomatoes.
Wednesday, July 25 View Page
The plant stopped growing. All pumpkins that were pollinated all aborted. The younger leaves all started to turn yellow.

Some of the older leaves started to look like this. Only reason I can think of is squash bugs. Next year I will spray earlier, and spray the fence next to an "organic" growing neighbor.

This is my biggest tomato for the year. It weighs 3.49 lbs. All the megablooms got fried earlier in the season.

Or 3 lbs. 7.9 ounces.
